I just purchased a Fostex digital mixer from Guitar Center that has the option to export your tracks to the computer for further editing and mixing when it is necessary. I want to take advantage of this to get the best recordings possible but I'm hesitant to purchase any recording software, as I know these programs can be very expensive and complicated to say the least. When it comes to mixing and mixing programs, I'm a complete beginner so I'm trying to find a program that's simple and easy enough for me to use without spending hours figuring out the interface beforehand. I don't want anything over the top, just a decent program that lets me easily edit each individual track and do things like adjust the volume, clip and move parts of the tracks, and maybe add effects like distortion, delay, echo/reverb, etc. Pretty much just the basics. My mixer has some of these capabilities, but I'd like them available on my computer as well in case i don't think to use them until after the track has already been recorded. Can anyone recommend a good program for me? -Please don't forget that I'm a beginner with this, I'm not computer illiterate whatsoever, but when it comes to these kinds of programs, I tend to get a little lost in trying to figure out how they work. I appreciate any help that any of you can give me, thanks in advance. :)
