Hi, I hv a data where i need to do the conditional formatting so as to know that how many students have failed, passed and promoted. i.e. if student a scores 40% marks the entire row should get the RED color, which means he is failed or student scores 60% and above the entire row should get YELLOW. any suggestions how to do this with conditional formatting ?? formula for percentage is already added in the sheets, i just have to update the marks scored by students. waiting for reply...

Cell C3 = "200"

Cell C4 = "200"

Click the last option " Use a Formula to determine...."

Click on the Text box below "Format Values where this formula is true"

Click on the cell D2

The value "=$D$2" will appear in the Text Box below "Format Values where this formula is true"

Delete the Dollar sign after D

so that now the value appears "=$D2"

Type >39, so that now the value in the Text Box appears "=$D2>39"

Click "Format" button below the Text Box

Select the Fill Tab

Select the colour "Red"

Click Ok

Click Ok

First Step concludes

Click D2 again

Go to Home Tab

Click Conditional Formating Icon

Click the third last option, "New Rule"

Click the last option " Use a Formula to determine...."

Click on the Text box below "Format Values where this formula is true"

Click on the cell D2

The value "=$D$2" will appear in the Text Box below "Format Values where this formula is true"

Delete the Dollar sign after D

so that now the value appears "=$D2"

Type >59, so that now the value in the Text Box appears "=$D2>59"

Click "Format" button below the Text Box

Select the Fill Tab

Select the colour "Yellow"

Click Ok

Click Ok

Second Step Concludes

Select the Cell D2 again

Look out for the Format Painter icon in the Home Ribbon, it looks like a Brush.

Click on it

A brush icon starts appearing besides your cursor.

Now select all the cells from A2 to D4, ie., the complete data in the table.

This should do the trick.

i'm using workplace 2007 Excel. try this for one cellular first. click the Conditional Formatting button. interior the window that opens, click the 2nd determination in "go with a Rule style", format only cells that contain. In "Edit the guideline Description", flow away the 1st container at cellular fee, exchange the 2nd container to "greatre than or equivalent to" and interior the 0.33 container enter .5 and then click the format button and then go with the Fill tab and the %. your shade. click ok, then click ok lower back. you have now back to the formatting unique window, click ok. Now enter information in that cellular to work out if it works the variety you like it to. If it does, do a duplicate, and then go with the cells you like this formatting in and then Paste particular and choose formats. If it would not artwork rather top, flow back and play with it till ultimately it somewhat is right. sturdy luck.
