I friend of mine is going nuts with his computer speed but doesn t clean History (something I do frequently) for fearing to lose his home screen program prompts. I never heard that it could cause any issue, and want to help him since he cannot buy another computer any time soon. Can anyone one, please, tell me if his fear makes any sense? If not, is there any link he should check on in order to ease his fears? Thank you so much!!

I'm not clear about what "home screen prompts" you are referring to. But removing history does not harm any programs. At all.

His speed could be other things: (1) infected computer (2) bad ISP (3) computer that is in serious need of defrag (4) old computer with old hard drive that might be about to belly up

Paranoia is the game that is good when played alone !

Your friend is paranoid.

Deleting History does nothing to remove the Home screen prompts and all that ! !

I'm not really sure what you mean by screen programs.

Deleting your history removes every website you've ever been to from your browser. However, if you have those websites (from your history) bookmarked, then you'll still have them all, just not in your history.

Also, you'll have to log back in, manually, because I'm pretty sure clearing your history removes your log in information (not 100% sure on that though).

Hope I helped.
