i want to know how on the linux site or whereever you can get just basic linux software where you can go on the internet and do word documents in other words i mean almost like windows but linux i know i wont find one exactly like windows but if you could tell me how to get one that is equivelent

We can't even start to answer you without know which Linux Distro you use.



Please re-post with the name of your version of Linux, then, we can give you a better answer.



FYI: Open Office is included with virtually all FULL versions of Linux, for example. TINY Linux versions don't often include OOo, for obvious reasons.

First off there is no basic linux ... just like there is no basic windows.



In my opinion the best linux for a newbie is Ubuntu --

It is easy to install and use, it comes with Open Office Suite, which is an excellent equivelent to MS Office Office.
