Hello I have a CD-ROM, and it doesn't auto play installation CD, except it auto plays DVD and music CD.
There is a icon and program DVD-ROM on my computer.
Is their a missing DLL or program, I didn't do anything, it just doesn't work.

Thank you.
P.s I cant use System restore, it was the past.

PP.S, can I download a Windows Recovery on Bit torrent and drag the program on my CD.

What windows ???

FOR VISTA:

Open Control Panel from the Start Menu. Select AutoPlay and check "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices". Click the Save button.

To learn how to customize it, check http://www.vista4beginners.com/AutoPlay

FOR XP:

• Right-click the start button and select Explore

• Right-click the desired CD-ROM and select Properties from the menu

• Select the Autoplay tab

• Select each item from the pulldown list and for the Action to perform, select "Take no action" to disable autorun, or pick the apporpriate action to take if enabling autorun.

• Click OK

Or you could download Windows autoplay repair wizard at

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C680A7B6-E8FA-45C4-A171-1B389CFACDAD&displaylang=en

If it still doesn't work then check: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330135

It isn't auto playing an Installation CD as a matter of security. Like the others have posted, you can go to Computer and double-click on drive to start.

Wait, wait, dont install anything or do any system restores. You are saying that it doesnt auto-play some files, so to fix this:

go to start/control panel/auto play options. And choose the options that suit you.

Even if it doesnt auto-play, you can just go to my computer, and double click on the dvd icon, and do it manually.

CD are for burring and reading files and music as well as photos. For movies or Digital Video you need a DVD to see a video file. Also if it is only a CD player it will only see cd's you need a duel reader combo....dvd and cd reader.

autoplay is usually a file on the CD/DVD disc? Or you can go to control panel and d/click on drive or reinstall the drives from the disc that came with th drive? Also go into BIOS and check your boot sequence that may help?

are you inserting something into the computer besides a dvd or cd? With my computer if it's anything other than that I have to go to the start menu, click on "computer" and it's usually there!

Hope it helps,

http://www.phdcc.com/shellrun/autorun.htm

check that site - it will fix it up

and secondly yes you kind of can - dont look for windows recovery. look for windows xp (or vista) cd on a torrent site in an iso format and burn the iso - if you want to make the cd drag and droppable it wont autoboot
