Hi,

I'm trying to download a movie which has been split into several avi files. The first file works on VLC, but the subsequent parts can't be played on VLC. I get the message that the file 'is not a movie file.'

This has happened to me with another movie as well. First part could be played but not the subsequent parts.

Please me to play those files..

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

"Subsequent parts"? AVI files are pretty straightforward and I've never heard of anything like this. If the AVI file is split it'll have to be rejoined. It's possible you don't have the whole file (downloaded it badly perhaps)

With Windows, I'd try downloading Media Player Classic Home Cinema (better than VLC in my humble opinion though I have both) and if that doesn't work the Combined Community Codec Pack.

Here's the solution: Download and install GomPlayer, which is a free software from this site www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html.This software supports most audio and video codecs. You

can play a movie split into sections using this.It supports avi as well as flash video so it can play

videos from You Tube.I have tried playing Scary Movie 4 split into about 9 flv files which I downloaded using a You Tube downloader. I just arranged the files according to part on the playlist and it played the

whole movie continously. To access the playlist, simply click on the GOM logo on the upper left portion

of the player and click Playlist.Arrange the videos in order according to part and then, all the avi files should have the same name.Just add part2 or so to the name of succeeding parts.Another solution is to

play it on Windows Media Player.Make sure it has avi codec.

Like the other guy said you need to find an application that will join the two halves together. I just fiddled around with various players and eventually got both of my halves to work on VLC (slightly erratically). Try googling: free .avi edit program merge

EDIT: Cheers Bry. Now I am off to download it and start watching youtube LOL

If a a lot participant say it ought to no longer play it as quickly as you're effective it ought to, that advise some component is defective with the video. you ought to objective applying extra advantageous diverse participant like, VLC participant, or play it in diverse laptop and observe.

why don't you just use Virtual Dub to merge the files together. it's a free software. another to do is download K-Lite codec's to play the files.

You might need to join the files to form one playable avi.

Try Hjsplit or winrar.
