No conversion needed. Excel 2007 is able to open excel 2010 files and viceversa.

If your file is from a previous version (example excel 2003) then excel 2007/2010 is capable to open it. The problem is when you want to open an excel 2007/2010 version with excel 2003. In this case the solution is to use the SAVE AS option from excel 2007/2010 and select the EXCEL 97-2003 Workbook option.

I assume you're transferring your file from home to school on a Flash Drive.

Insert Flash Drive. Locate and open your file. Go to Save As and choose from the drop-down list of file types at the bottom of the Save As box.

This is not really necessary because 2007 and 2010 files are similar. The difficulty lies with persons who are still using the 2003 format.

2003 saves as a .xls file

2007 and 2010 files both save as .xlsx files

Similarly for Word

2003 .doc

2007 and 2010 .docx

and PowerPoint

2003 .ppt

2007 and 2010 .pptx
