Amarok is primarily for KDE but can also be used on GNOME http://amarok.kde.org/
Rhythmbox is primarily for GNOME http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/
Take a look at using Gtkpod in conjuntion with Amarok http://www.gtkpod.org/about.html

Both beat the hell out of iTunes
I'm mostly a KDE user, so I choose Amarok

I like Rhythmicbox because it support iTunes DAAP shares and copying to my PSP (may support iPOD sync but just use floola for that). I also like GNOME desktop.
Amarok is good for online Radio but i hate KDE.
