I've tried them both... and prefer ubuntu for my desktop.



Easier install, easier maintenance, more works from the standard install.

Tough call. I like that Fedora Core includes multiple window managers (I prefer KDE to Gnome). Still, Ubuntu seems to be doing better at package management for software installs, which is nice, and there are more packages available for Ubuntu. I suppose it depends upon what's more important to you - try to find something that's critical and see if one or the other is better at it.

Ubuntu is getting very popular but personally I like FC. Because most peoples are used to with RHL so I can find help on any topic. Also I can find the package I want more easily. Most of all I feel more comfortable with FC.

I will have to say, Ubuntu out of the two. Just using KDE or blackbox over GNOME.



Or if the going gets tough, Tinfoil Hat Linux!! *chuckles* I do take that one where ever I go.
