ok, Data type for my field is date/time. format is yyyy
why won't it work? When I try to enter data such as 2000 in theat field then it gives me an error.

Do other dates work? Are you entering 4 digits or 2? It should work in Access 2003. Prior versions need a patch to account for the year 2000.

If your field data type is date/time, you need to at a minimum enter a complete date. In this case, the time will default to midnight.



If all you want to capture is year, then you should set up a 4 digit numerical field instead.
