pctstray.exe is a function of the program Spyware Doctor, which I assume you have on your PC.

It could be a spyware problem, so first of all run this scan on your computer: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If that doesn't solve the problem, press and hold in the power button (the button you turn your pc on with) until your computer goes off. Then restart the computer.

Finally, you could uninstall Spyware Doctor, reboot, then re-install Spyware Doctor.

Hold he button for 10 seconds and release.

You should not shut it off using the button. ctrl--alt delete is the proper way to shut the entire system down.

You Need not shut the computer off unless you have security issues --just turn off the moniter.

Shutting of your machine is like turning your motorcycle off on a freeway at 100km an hour

Try pressing and holding the power button without letting go until it shuts down. Then turn it on once again and all should be fine
