I have spent lots of money and time on creating DVD's of my family's VHS tapes. Now that they're no longer VHS tapes, but rather DVD's, I need copies of them for the rest of my family. In short, I'm not willing to spend the time making four copies of the same VHS tape to DVD, since it takes HOURS. I don't want to make four copies the same way I made the first copy, because it's likely to wear out the machine (which was expensive), and the whole thing is horribly time consuming.

Anyways, I need a program for my MAC that will allow me to stick my new family DVD's into the computer, download the info to the computer, then pull that disc out, put a new unburned disc in, and then burn a copy... that will PLAY in a regular dvd player and not just on my MAC.

Ideas?

Also I wouldn't mind having a copyright removal function as well. It could be nice, but it's not totally necessary and not what I'm focusing on right now.

You forgot to mention WHICH MAC and WHICH OS VERSION???

I have to choose for you, so I say you have a new MacBook and OS 10.6. You don't need to buy or download anything to make copies of DVDs you created from tapes. Put the "original" DVD in, open Disk Utility, select the DVD at the left, and click "New Image" at the top. For the "Image format", choose "DVD/CD master" and no encryption unless you want to protect the image with a password. Choose the save location and wait. When it has finished, eject the disc, and open the image to be sure it works. Unmount the image (for example, in a Finder window, select the mounted disk icon and press command E). Back to Disk Utility, select the image ("whatwhat.cdr") at left and click the "Burn" button at top left. You will see a request to insert a blank DVD.

Your term is not correct in that you can't remove the copyright. That is a legal status. You can remove the copy protection software. Use Handbrake, link below.
