The recovery disk will allow you to return to the factory settings. But it will also revert you to older version of Windows.

As it will be installing an early version of Windows then Win7, the install may refuse to run. Microsoft does not like it when you try to downgrade your version of Windows. It will not let the installer do that. So you may have to format the hard drive first to remove Windows 7 and then run the recovery disk.

Or the recovery disk may do that automatically (50/50) or may at least offer you an option to format before the install begins. Run the disk and if it errors out, then you will know you need to format first and then rerun the disk.

You would get back all the extras that came with the computer, but you would also get back the earlier version of Windows.

Follow the steeps given below: If your secondary hard drive is not already connected, connect it. The secondary hard drive needs to be connected before and throughout the duration of the installation. The computer needs to recognize the hard drive for the following steps to work. Step 2You will need the Windows 7 CD. Insert the CD and the installation screen should automatically come up. Start the installation. During the installation you will be asked where you want to install the operating system. Choose your secondary hard drive. Remember you won't be able to select it if you don't have it hooked up. Step 3This creates a dual boot with Windows 7 as your primary boot. During the installation you will also be asked which operating system you want to run when the computer restarts. If you do change anything, Windows 7 will boot.

you have deleted the recovery disc creator, so if you didnt create the discs it's going to be quite hard to get the information off of the recovery partitian.

the best thing that you could try to do is go onto the HP site, find your computer and see if there is a recovery disc creator, which should then be able to acces the recovery partitian with all your factory shipped data.

you might have to get in contact with the HP customer support if there isnt one.

if you did create a recovery disc, you can use it to restore to factory settings, which will wipe the drive and install what you had on there when you got it.

If you formatted the entire drive the recovery partition is gone.If you only formatted the partition with the previous OS then you still can recover the computer in its original state.

nope .. when you mean "format" you erase very data of your hard drive... now you can recover some files using file recovery tools... but its probability to recover from a formatted hard drive is like 10% only...

now if you want to enable your system restore.. right click "my Computer" go to properties.there will be a system restore tab.. set it there.
