i need to convert windows media player to quicktime...pls help!!!?

ok, so heres the deal...

when i plug my camera into the computer (i have a mac). it comes in my finder was a text edit thing. then i went onto the internet and downloaded windows media player for a mac. then when i plugged the camera in, the files came in as windows media player. but when i click on it to watch it, it says that it cant support the code or whatever! i dont really know but i need it toooo work! how do i do it? please help me!

The other option is to install VLC, a free media player that supports all formats.

I'm assuming you are trying to play video files. I dont know what format they are in, but i will try and help. You can try using VLC media player it is a free download and supports many more codecs than WMP does. If that doesnt work you can download and install a codec pack such as K-Lite. Another option would be to get a video converter like Xillisoft and convert the files to a different format. Xillisoft is not free but i'm sure there are some free ones out there or at least a trial version to get you started.

Right click the file and choose Open With, then Quicktime. To make this change permanent, choose Other instead of quicktime, then select quicktime from the list and check the box to "always open with".
