Dear friends, I have windows 7 in my computer. What my problem is, a list of "recently opened file names" are stored and fixed in a file menu. For example, I opened a new "paint" file, there I can view the recently opened paint files list. This list of files is located in an unnamed icon near to "Home" option. There I can view, save, new file, open file menus and also my "recent opened paint file names."

Actually, I don't want that list, how can we remove that list and is it possible to permenantly stop the storage?

Now I fixed this problem by deleting the original file or change the file name then I tried to open that file in "recent file list." Surprisingly, it said that file is not available in that folder and those files name are immediately removed from the recent file list.

The same list also available in windows xp, there we can see the list under "File" menu. Please advise me and advance thanks for your help. (I already asked this question and most of them misunderstood my question, they thought I asked to remove from strart menu list in desktop).

How to delete list in MS Word:

Click on the Office button at the top left of Word and click on Word Options.

Click on Advanced in the left hand column and then scroll down to the Display section.

For Show this number of Recent Documents“, change the value to 0 to completely remove the recent documents list from the menu.

If you have Office 2003 or XP, the method to remove recent documents is slightly different. Basically, whichever Office program you are using, you need to go into the Options panel and there will be an option of how many items you want in the list.

For Project, the option is on the General tab. You can either adjust the number of documents on the recently used file list or uncheck it to remove it altogether.

How to clear in Paint:

1 Open the Start menu and type "regedit" in the search bar.

2 Click "regedit" from the result list, then click "Yes" or supply your administrative password if prompted by Windows.

3 Click the "plus" symbol next to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER", followed by "Software", "Microsoft", "Windows", "CurrentVersion", "Applets," and "Paint".

4 Right click the key labeled "Recent File List" on the left of the screen and click "Delete." Click "Yes" when asked to confirm the action. Your Microsoft Paint history has now been erased.

In Excel:

In Excel 2003

Tool->Options->General
