So, I have microsoft office home and student 2007 version. Only word is not working.. powerpoint and excel are working perfectly fine. When I try to open it, Word freezes on the little microsoft image thingy and then it says not responding wont open. It says like then to run it in safe mode to isolate the problem. When I click on run in safe mode, it still doesn't work. How can I fix this problem?

When Word will not open or immediately crashes, I suspect a corrupted template. The template for new documents in 2007 is called normal.dotx.

If you cannot open Word, try the following: in the Search box off of the Start button, enter "winword.exe /a" without the quotes (Note the space before the "/a") and press Enter. This will start Word with a new copy of normal and not your copy. If things work properly now, your copy of normal is corrupt. With Word closed, find and delete it. Word will create a new copy when you restart it.

The easiest way to find normal is to enter "%appdata%\Microsoft\Templates" in the Search box and press Enter. Right click on normal.dotx and delete it.

If Word came with your computer, it was a Trial Version. The downloaded version will expire after a set period of time but the trial version on your computer should have been uninstalled before installing a new version. You will likely have to uninstall Word then download Word and buy a licence key from Microsoft.

Goran the Man makes a good point. You can go to www.openoffice.org or www.libreoffice.org and download a free open source fully featured office suite that is fully compatible with Microsoft and Microsoft format.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Your problem is Microsoft.

Back in the days, when it was called MS-DOS, us techies would refer to it as MS-POS (i.e. POS standing for "Piece Of S***").

So, dump Microsoft and get one of those free office programs online.
