It depends on your budget. You can get a software that is under 30 bucks and has the same capacity as FL Studio, Pro Logic, Pro Tools. It is very user friendly and you can create unlimited kinds of music for any genre. All the best to you,

From your additional details it looks like you are going for Windows software rather than Mac (which you listed in your original question). Both Acid and FL Studio only run on Windows, although FL Studio can run on Mac if you use Bootcamp.

I much prefer FL Studio. I've been using the Producer Edition for many years to create electronic music. Just try the demo and see how you like it. If you need more info you can contact me, I can also get you a good deal on the software.

three options come to mind:

-FL studio, a softsynth program that has drum machines and sequencers etc. it's mostly used to make often cheap sounding techno. easiest of the three to learn

-Reason, a bigger beefier softsynth workstation. this is the one i use. it has better analog simulations and beat loops to work with right out of the box. i would try to find a pirated version. not that i encourage internet piracy, but $399 is not cheap. also, Luke Vibert uses it.

-Renoise, it's another softsynth workstation. this one is different in that the sequencer goes from top to bottom instead of the traditional left to right (like reason) I don't know much else about it other than Venetian Snares uses it, so it's clearly capable of making breakcore music.

Hope that helps :)
