Can you tell the time and date when a Word document or Excel spreadsheet was actually opened?

I know you can tell when a document was updated by hovering over the title but is there a way of finding out when it was first opened ?

The above person is right...just right click on the file and you should be good.

Yes, if you open Windows Explorer and go to the folder containing the files.



Then go to VIEW menu, then pick Choose Details.

You can now select DATE ACCESSED as a column to show.

Easiest way is to right-click on the file, select "properties" and you'll see times and dates for "created", "modified" and "accessed". Sounds like "accessed" is the one you're looking for :)
