Ok, so heres the story: Back when the Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) came out, i decided to installl it. I got a trial key from the Microsoft website, and everything worked fine. Now i bought the windows 7 home premium 3 pack and want to install it on my computer. The problem is, I dont think it will let me downgrade from windows 7 ultimate to windows 7 home premium. Does anyone know? Because it would suck if i had to find the restore disc for my laptop, restore to Vista, then upgrade and reinstall all my programs and files. So does anyone know?

It will not downgrade for you and unfortunately the only fix is to do a fresh install, not an upgrade (you don't have to reformat).

You can use Easy File Transfer to save your settings, files, etc. and then transfer them into your new Windows 7 installation. This site explains the process - yes, it is for XP but I used the same trick to move my Windows 7 from a virtual disk to my hard drive.

It will not move your programs for you and you will have to reinstall those.

Ohh Looks like you've got a prob there buddy!

Microsoft tried to make Windows 7 as intuitive as possible, this is going to be an attempt by Microsoft to try to make and keep money.

They will use the excuse that Ult is better and so on.

Contact Microsoft, Back-up your storage and get ready for the worst...

Format.

Before you format see if you can partition the hard drive.

Best of luck
