On my Panda Antivirus program it popped up that it had a virus on wininet.dll. It said restart to completely disinfect. I did so but next thing I knew, my yahoo messenger wouldnt come up or anything else with it such as opening the control panel and documents and it says "This application has failed to start because WININET.dll was not found. Re- Installing the application may fix this program" I need to know how i can reinstall it. Can anyone help? I am using Window Vista

II was able to fix it pretty easy with the Vista disk. Using system restore.

I hope Panda will never do this again or they'll be out of business soon!

I think if you don't have a disk with Vista, you should either look for a computer with Vista or better, someone with a disk.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

I had the same problem just a few minutes ago, I'm using Vista and Panda AV too...I've just downloaded Wininet.dll from a website. It's a zipped file so I need to unzipp it but I can't!!!in fact as soon as I try to do it it says "interface not registered".

I don't really know what to do...:(

ah I'm italian and I don't know all the specific words to use in this case so forgive me for some mistakes!!

.....excuse me but what is safe mode?how can i get to it?

I had the same problem and the system restore function ran in safe mode seemed to fix it. I also read Panda is aware of the problem. (A lot of people using their software have this problem right now!)

If you're already in safe mode go to the start menu and type "system restore" in the start search bar at the bottom. The right program will come up and you will have to start that. Hopefully it will have a restore point and you can restore it!

Good luck!

I have the same problem. Seems like Panda AV is deleting good files after it installed the newest update. Anybody know where to get a good wininet.dll back?

I had the same problem just a few minutes ago.

I was able to fix it with the system restore function from safe mode. It didn't work in the regular mode, so use safe mode.
