Hi
I have a problem with our pc as it won't play certain cd's. Up until recently I had office 97 and have recently installed office 2007 as well.
I get the following error message:

'E:\wrapper.exe' had the following unrecoverable error:
couldn't find libary msvcr80.dll
(required by c:\program files\commom files\microsoft shared\office 12\msoxmlmf.dll)

I thought that I had received the above error because I'd left the old office 97 on my pc, so I removed office 97. However, I still get the above message when I put in certain cd's?
Perhaps there's a patch I can download to fix this?

Anyone with any ideas/advice would be welcome!

There are a couple of things going on here. The msvcr80.dll is the C++ runtime and some s/w on those CDs is trying to run. Could be a virus/trojan or a vendor DRM (official virus/trojan) or even legitimate software. Tell us which CDs and we can answer that better. Microsoft doesn't really do a good job of organizing libraries and this is a typical error related to that. See below for greater detail. Once we know the precise error, we can tell you what to uninstall or to warn you about the CD, etc.

No it isn't the wrong format.

What has happened is office 97 has intergrated itself into the operating system and it is trying to find a file that you have unistalled when you took it out alltogether.

My advice is to first switch it off and then on again.

If it still doesn't work you will have to go back to the old 97.

Although looking at having 97 installed the chances are that you are running an ancient OS and system. If you have a CD and not DVD drive or it is like a 2 or 3 speed I would get a upgrade to a 6 ot 7 speed

You're missing a DLL file. These are used by Windows as pointers to run your programs. Try this: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr80 And put it in here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office 12\.

It should work. Hope this helps.

I think it is a virus. You need to clean it. I suggest that you can try use Perfect Optimizer. It will repair registry errors, clean up junk files, clear history records and personal privacy, speed up startup and whole operating system and our amazing One-Click function.
