So.. in 1 day and 17 hours Windows 7 will be available for purchase officially.

My question, will you buy it on the 22nd? Will you wait? When?!

Unlike Vista I see no reason to wait for a service pack. I have purchased Windows 7 Ultimate already and can't wait to install it even though I have used the RC and RTM for awhile so the suprise will be minimal.

My prediction is that alot of ppl who ran over to mac because of vista will either come running back soon or wish they could!

Of course I mean no offense to the 3% of mac lovers!

I, like many others, skipped Vista completely, although I did install it on my daughters laptop and had a play around with it.

I was happy with XP so stuck with it, but have used Win7 RC and RTM and pre-ordered my copy, so I await its arrival and then get to play again.

Many computers that could not run Vista will be able to run Win7, resources required are much lower and smaller footprint along with better compatibility but keep away from the basic version, it lacks the functionality of Pro or Ultimate :-)

I have XP on one computer and Vista on the other. I saw little difference between both operating systems after the 3rd service pack was installed in my Vista computer. The Vista machine improved considerably but still not good enough to consider keeping the system. It seems that Vista caught up with the older XP, that is regression, not progress. I have been telling everyone I know that if they have XP they should keep it until Windows 7 comes out with SP1 to make sure the bugs are gone, like all Microsoft products. If they have Vista then install Windows 7 Premium (stay away from Basic) as soon as you can! Anything is better than Vista.

As for Snow Leopard? I don't know about the Mac operating systems. I do know that Microsoft lost a lot of customers because of Vista, however. Many downloaded the free version of Linux just to see if it was better than Vista and are staying with Linux running Open Office.

Since I'm running XP, and Windows 7 beta says I can't run Windows 7, I'm going to wait for the first service pack, and buy a new computer.

I already have Windows 7 =D

Awesome OS. I think that this may convert some Mac users because of the bugs in Snow Leopard, and will also entice people to upgrade from XP.

Not for a while. My XP runs kind of okay right now, and Windows OS's aren't the best for build quality. See Vista for example.
