Could someone suggest to me a better instant messaging client than Pidgin? I dislike Trillian, Meebo and AOL Instant Messenger. I do actually *like* Pidgin, but it crashes on me once every few hours.

If you want it for Ubuntu then there is kopete.
sudo apt-get install kopete
Though I am quite happy with pidgin.

I would try to download an older version of pidgin. Maybe it will be more stable.
