In the light that windows xp is about a decade old, and microsoft has vista and windows 7 out, does using xp on multiple computers with one license really matter?
Both computers would have internet connection and if I understand correctly Microsoft would be able to track that and disable the license or what ever it is they do.
Was that the past or do they still care that I would be using one license on two computers?

XP is still under copyright, and will be for the next 100 years. Microsoft still enforces licensing for all of their operating systems, going back to MS DOS.

If you want a free OS, use Linux.

Yes it still matters and you will be unable to activate the other XP machines with the same key. After 30 days the unactivated versions would not run.

Yes, they do still care, especially since support is still continuing.

It relies upon on the version. Beta variations enable for setting up on diverse systems yet very final variations do no longer enable for diverse installations. yet you will possibly be able to desire to puirtchase diverse licences for the applying & use them. domicile windows enormously counts the form of circumstances your OS is activated no rely on what number systems. i think of that's 7 circumstances. whether you install your domicile windows on an identical systen for better than 7 circumstances your key will become invalid. So there's a flaw interior the validation gadget there :) Please do no longer use it nonetheless. this is a drawback that the applying developer has. it isn't any longer our lenience to exploit it. we'd desire to continuously in reality be advising them on a thank you to enhance or atleast tell them it is erroneous & enable them to discover a fashion of correcting it. Frankly in the event that they have been to tighten the noose we'd unquestionably discover it impossible to artwork with our application. thank you & Regards Vinod

If you are on the same network you cant use the same key. There is a report port that we block when we setup on networks. Anyhow, you can have the same key in 10 places but NOT on the same network.
