Adobe Flash Player is a legitimate program.

A good rule of thumb is that if a program seems unfamiliar, is coming from a site you don't visit often, or is offered in an advertisement (some promise to make sure your "clock is up to date" but are really viruses) you should run a quick Yahoo! or Wikipedia search for the software and see if it is a legitimate product.

Also, make sure that your computer has a virus scanner installed. If you don't have one, I recommend AVG-free, which in my opinion is the best free virus scanner available. Here's a link to the download from their website [ http://free.avg.com/download?prd=afe ] click on the left hand part of the image. Make sure you hit the "update" button before each scan and run a full computer scan a few times a week.

Safe and happy browsing!

Adobe Flash Player does NOT cause viruses. Flash Player is required to view motion on a web page. Foxit Reader is for reading PDF files and is an alternative to Adobe Reader Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader are completely two separate programs.

Is it safe??

Yes, of course! :)

There is no way it's a virus so just watching some good old hulu isn't gonna hurt you.

Literally billions of computers all over the world have flash player, it's needed to watch videos on YouTube, play flash games, just about every website on the web uses it.

But to make sure you're not getting a fake flash player,

be sure you download it from the -official- website here:

http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

and you're all set!

For anything else you need to know about viruses, try asking your friends that know about computer stuff or doing a google search, it'll help you figure out what's bad or not.

Soon enough you'll build a collection of websites that you can always trust and count on!

Good luck in the future with getting around the world wide web! :D

Flash does not carry any viruses or infections by itself, but it does have security holes that can give you problems. To better understand how using older versions of Flash that have not been updated to the latest version, I recommend this article: https://heimdalsecurity.com/blog/adobe-flash-vulnerabilities-security-risks/

It explains why Flash is so widely used, how it can be compromised and lead to a nasty virus infection and how you can protect yourself from such infections.
