can i share this excel file over the internet?

i created this excel file for work. it calculates the pay period ending for all our employees. how can i give employees access to this spreadsheet if they dont have excel? can i use google docs or some adobe software so that im able to say email an employee and say "hey here is a sheet you can figure out your payday", so the employee simply goes in this excel spreedsheet that i made, types in their numbers, figures out there pay and such. is this possible?

Yes Google Docs is very good choice, i use it myself, but they might have to have a gmail account to access it and they don't even need to have Excel installed on their computer or tablet.

When sharing the excel file don't send them the link, use the Share button instead, otherwise they get the email and then they have to ask you for access and it could take a couple of hours or days to actually get access (depending on how soon then read their mail and how soon you answer)



But if you are not sending it back and forth a lot then just send it as an attachment, specially if they don't have gmail

I would use google docs, try upload the file and test it (it should work, but may have problems since google has its own way of reading the file), if this works then make the file private and then share it by entering the email addresses of the employees.

If they don't have Excel or a compatible program like OpenOffice, they will not be able to open the file.

The file itself can be posted as an email attachment.
