To specific cell (let's say A1) in file A.xml data is taken from other cell (let's say B1) from file B.xml. Is it possible to make the data stay for real in the file A so when that file is sent to someone who does not have the file B Excel does not show any messages about not being able to import data from the missing file. In the desired situation, in the A1 cell instead of ='path/[B.xml]Sheet1'B1 there is jest the downloaded number, for example 5. The person who receives the A file does not even know that the data has been imported from other file - excel does not show any warning and does not want to update any cells. If it is possible, how to do it?

One solution I have in mind is... using excel macro would do it...

Another thing, I'm not sure if the new version of excel already included the protection scheme for cells, where the file update is not being asked when the source file does not exist but you better try it. How, all you have to do is hide the formula... and on the protection options, you should enable hidden content.

I think there is a way to do it on the ribbon. You need to find it and then find the file on the desktop.
