Depends on how you do it....
You can study yourself using different books and programs, so the expense would be the cost of those. Or you can take actual classes (usually through a college).
The test usually run in the $100 each range. But it varies from site to site depending on their expenses to rent the text room, etc. You will need to check with the test site for cost.
If you watch the Microsoft site, they will often offer a period of "free" make up exams. If you take a test during one of these periods and fail, you can repeat the test within the next week of two for free.

It depends upon the certification you want and how you want to go about doing it. The tests are $100 each. You can take classes, you can buy study materials, or you can just study on your own. I recommend looking at some practice tests, since that will give you an idea of what to expect.

i wasn't aware of Microsoft certifying anyone for Office. I'm aware of the MCSE cert though.
