I just installed Mac OS 10.4.10 on my Powermac G4, I used to have Mac OS 10.3.9. After I installed the operating system I tried to print something from Safari 3 BETA. When I clicked print the whole program quit. I thought it was a problem with safari so I downloaded firefox. I tried to print again in firefox and the same thing happened, it just quit. I have tried printing in many different programs and every time the program just quits. I have reset the printers and reset the printer setup utility and I have reinstalled both printers. I can't even get to the print options page in the programs. I click "File" the I click "Print" and the program quits. I have a HP Laserjet P2015 printer that is networked and a HP PSC 750 that is attached with usb. I was able to print in Mac OS 10.3.9 but I can't now.

YOu should just use CUPs (Common Unix Printing System) to talk to your printer. Open up either safari or firefox, type in this: http://127.0.0.1:631

This will take you to the CUPS screen. You'll see both your printers listed there, as well as your internal modem. Ignore the modem, but you can set up both printers by clicking on "Configure Printer". It will step you through a few different options; easy questions - just tell the computer where the printer is located (USB for the PSC750, and the router address of the P2015; the router address is usually 10.0.1.1). At the end of it all, you can print a test page, and - suddenly you're printing again.

There's probably another way, but honestly this is the easiest. I've tried it and was amazed at how simple it is, even though it sounds weird. I heard about it on a very cool podcast called The Bad Apples.

I also have a Mac os 10.4.10, and I'm having almost the same problem, but with me, half the page is printd, and then it stops and gets stuck inside until I cancel it. it's been driving me crazy, I went on the hp website, and they say you need to specify which printer you're using in the page setup dialogue box. there are two options there: 1. Any Printer. 2. HP laserjet.. so chose your hp printer.

Don't get your hopes up though, it worked for me the first time, and now I'm facing the same problem and I can't find a solution. if you find one, please let me know: walsarabi@yahoo.com

You should uninstall your printer driver and then download an updated printer driver for your printer from the hp website.

The current driver that you had under 10.3.9 will most definatly need updating if you went up to 10.4.10
