I just bought The Sims 3 today and was pretty psyched to get to play it on my new Mac. I was unsure if it would work since i already knew that it had been mentioned that you needed a certain update for the game to be able to play. The MAC OSX 10.5.3-update.

Which i didnt have.

So i go to Apple and find it and download it and when i come to the step of choosing where to install it on the HDD i get the message "You Cannot Install Mac OS X Update on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update".

What does that mean? I have 206GB space avaliable so it not much of a memory problem atleast.

So instead i go in to the Software Update-finder and it finds the same update. When i ask to update i get this message instead

"You do not have appropriate access privileges"

I am the only account on this computer and i am an Admin. What is th problem? I did buy this Mac from a previous buyer - and did erase his account. If that would be the problem - where can i find a way to "restart the computer" or whats it called.

To make it as good as new.

10.5.3 is an update to Leopard (MacOS 10.5). You need to have Leopard already installed on your Mac. It sounds like you have Tiger 10.4.

If you go to your apple in the upper left corner, drag down to software update and run it. If you have Leopard, it will automatically update for you.

If you have a new Mac, then you are running Snow Leopard which is 10.6, you don't need 10.5.3 because that would be a step backward. If your Sims game is not playing, it may not be compatible with Snow Leopard. There will be an update out in a day or to to 10.6.1 (which your Mac may be running), bringing it up to 10.6.2 which may allow your Sims game to run.

Mac OS X is far less stressful to apply and shield. It has lots extra effectual secure practices: 0 viruses and undercover agent ware. that's far less stressful to characteristic hardware, considering maximum gadgets purely artwork once you plug them in, devoid of application installation mandatory, and no nasty 'Wizards' getting interior the way. OS X additionally has extra effectual help for upcoming sixty 4-bit purposes, considering they and their drivers can run alongside with the older 32-bit purposes and drivers devoid of desiring separate variations of the working equipment. those are purely some examples, yet there are hundreds (hundreds?) of little reward to OS X that upload as much as make employing it a excitement whilst in comparison with any version of abode windows. via how, Macs are additionally the only desktops which could legally run OS X, abode windows, and Linux from separate partitions on your no longer common stress.

So this is a used computer. What system is it running? Is it an Intel or G4 or 5? Snow Leopard requires an Intel machine.
