I installed service pack 3 for windows xp.
I previously had service pack 2 installed.

If I ever need to reinstall windows, do I have to install service pack 2 before installing service pack 3?

Or can I install service pack 3 without having to install service pack 2?

I just ran into this...tried putting sp3 on a pc that was at sp1 level.

It wouldn't work.

I had to install sp2, THEN install sp3 to get it work.

So the answer depends on the version of your install cd or recovery disks.

If the recovery disks is original xp or sp1, you WILL have to install sp2 before sp3.

If your recovery disks are sp2, you can just go straight to sp3.

i might try downloading each and all of the accessible drivers to your computing gadget from introduction's internet site - they do upward thrust as much as date as gadget faults are got here across, and those on your fix CD are actually not likely to be present day. if your device has onboard photos somewhat than a photos card, do not use regular ATI drivers - basically use those offered by capability of introduction (or the motherboard producer). the indicators you describe sound a sprint like overheating - verify your followers. even with the undeniable fact that, if this became the case, it would take place regardless of which drivers/provider packs you have put in...
