Can Microsoft Visio 2007 be downloaded for Mac computers? I need to download or download a trial version for a school project but haven't been successful. Does it work for Macs, and if it does could the fact that I have Office 2008 have anything to do with the problems?

Macs are my preference. No spyware gets in them. no viruses. They have a program that reads windows - so you can open windows programs on a mac. they hold more, they have better programs (microsoft word is a lot better on macs then PCS) they don't slow down with age (my design school has 3-400 of them. some are about 5 years old.. still going strong!) you can get all of those programs on MAcs. Microsoft office comes designed special for macs, ITUNES is an apple program (runs better with less errors on macs) quicktime - for movies - is what Apple runs with.. AIM works on anything.. Get a mac- - - you will thank yourself! if you have any programs that run from windows.. you CAN INSTALL THEM ONTO YOUR MAC! i have done this with 3 or 4 programs. The new macs have a special program that can actually convert the mac to a PC reading - to open and run with PC programs. Macs are not hard to figure out - at all. A lot easier than PCS. Also - on another note... i have no problem transferring PC files to my mac and mac files to my PC. my mac can read and send out files that are read by all systems. Macs have come a long way in the last few years.

Buy a laptop/PC really depends on what you are going to use it for and your preference of Operating System. Most people are familiar with Windows already so its easier to buy a laptop like Dell, Compaq, Sony etc. If you buy a MAC you will have to get familiar with the OS which is not a bad thing, you will like it in time. HOwever, you said you were going to use it for school. I think its easier to use windows. This way if you have presentations or papers, you know that sending your Microsoft Word or excel doc to your prof wouldn't be an issue. One advantage with MAC is you dont have to worry as much about virus issues and what not.

There are some pretty good alternatives. I personally like using Lucidchart. Its free and can download visio documents.
