Question:
Do you believe it is better to buy a PC with the OS you want already pre installed? Or to install it yourself?

I ask, because I am curious of what others think.

I was in need of a powerful laptop very cheap price, for my line of work. The one I found came with Windows Vista. I was dreading using the OS and contemplated buying windows 7.

Once I started using vista, I actually liked it, and decided not to install the better OS. Do you think most people upgrade their OS incorrectly, and that causes them to dislike the OS?

I think it depends on your personal experience with the OS you want compared to the one being offered preinstalled

For example I will personally install Windows XP each and everytime. Vista and windows 7 are fine too, but after using Vista for a while i decided that its little problems outweighed its good stuff, so i reverted back to XP. As for windows 7 i tried the RC stuff so it was cool then, but right now i dont see myself needing it

That said, if I do have to get a computer with an OS preinstalled then usually i will keep it on that unless its no good to me.

To vista fans out there, yes my Laptop still has Vista on it even though im not too fond of it.

But my first choice is always to install everything myself, then i know that if anything goes wrong its my fault and not the monkeys at the computer shop building the computer

:D

[EDIT]

@Jose V

Tell that to the people who sell machines with Vista and only 512MB RAM.. i dont see the "made specifically for that OS" part in that xD

Usually the combination of system and OS is warrantied. If you install your own OS and it doesn't work or there are no drivers, tough.

Most people dislike a new OS because it isn't the one they know how to use.

not a fair question... if you had vista and reinstalled vista or if you had windows 7 and reinstalled 7.

and it depends... how familiar are you with installation procedures? Most users should just buy a pre-installed OS.

desktops are truthfully extra budget friendly. you may get a pc loaded with living house windows 7, 17" exhibit, a rapid Intel middle 2 Duo, 500GB difficultpersistent, 2GB of SDRAM for below $800. the backside style MacBook starts off at $999 and that has a 13" exhibit. There are a approaches fewer viruses and trojans for Macs than living house windows yet this is not because of the fact Macs are resistant to such issues. The Mac and living house windows variations of Microsoft workplace are fantastically plenty the comparable. you may somewhat swap documents for pc to Mac and lower back lower back. i take advantage of Macs because of the fact they're less complicated to apply and my layout artwork demands extra Mac application than pc. If fee is extra important than ease of use, then i might propose the pc rather.

pre-installed is usually better because the computer was made for that OS specifically

Let the professionals install the OS for you. Installing an OS can be tricky.
