Linux Mint 5 just "officially" released!?

Question

There was a "secret" release on Friday, but now it's been officially announced.

Has anyone tried it?

I've been using it since yesterday and it's awesome

Great stuff downloading it now. I did a VirtualBox run of Light yesterday. It polished, its smart, its Ubuntu on huge amounts of steroids and it will give OpenSUSE a real run for its money 'not stirring it up at all you understand'

We will see if it can hack the field as well as Ubuntu 8.04 can, at the moment its looking mighty promising.

Linux Mint 5.0 comes shipped with Firefox 3 RC



You can have it on Xubuntu by enabling proposed updates.

All installed and customized, awesome for folks starting out, more attractive than raw Ubuntu and more user-friendly than OpenSUSE.



I still say its Ubuntu on mega amounts of steroids though.

Mint is one in each of my precise favs... Be superb to verify what it may provide up over my cutting-edge laptop assimilations. My final flow with Mint, I hosed up a video conflict SO undesirable I had to easily unload the entire issue. no longer Mints fault. completely... I do have a lil AMD Turion sixty 4 laptop thats waiting for a sturdy distro back alongside. this could be a sparkling thread, perfect? purely looks I recognised, some... Oh, on no account suggestions! LOL! I do submit to in suggestions that Ubuntu on steroids remark... nevertheless sticking with me! little bit of reality there.

Hey Pirate! Gonna start the D'L in the morning and play LiveCD for a bit. I've run outa drives! Got a new machine up and running, and been playing musical distros all week-end. Mint is one of my favs. Like that slab thing, and their update route is great. We need screenshots! C'mon!

no - but I've been using Xubuntu 8.04 since it's been released and am pretty happy with it (Mint is based on Ubuntu - but you probably know that).



Also finally got to upgrade my ("must be stable") desktop from Ubuntu 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS - I was thrilled about that!



what version of Firefox did it include? we got version 3 beta 5 (I have mixed feelings about that).

I wonder if they incorporated everything from Ubuntu 8.04, or just bits and pieces.
