If you are wanting to completely move over to Mac OS X (reformatting your hard drive will completely erase what is currently on there), you should just be able to run the installation CD(s).

I haven't installed Mac OS X before, but I know when installing any version of Windows, the installation asks if I want to partition/format the hard drive. You won't need to format your motherboard or ram, the only thing that will need partitioning/formatting is your hard drive.

Good luck! (oh by the way, go with Linux, it's better than either of those choices!)

EDIT: The other posters are right about compatibility issues. You should check with the manufacturers and Apple before installing on non-Mac hardware.

mabey you can try to format this the only reason it is even possible to put apple software like mac os x 10.5 is because now apple is using intel processors so this could be possible.

Why It May Not work: Mac os x is very picky it normally will only run correctly if your motherboard boots up certain items in certain places one of the main reasons people have not been able to put Mac os x on there comp is because your hardware has to be configured a certain way.

But in the end i dont know if it will work give it a go see how it goes.

While you could put a mac on PC computer by hacking the cd. A

Apple will not allow it and this will violate your user agreement. Also putting a mac on a computer with non-Mac hardware you can get an unstable system, which can cause it to even be more worst then vista was before they fixed its stability problems

Mac OSx is designed for a different type of CPU chip. It is also not plug and play, so you need to know exactly what else you have in your machine.

It is possible to run it on a partition, no need to get rid of the Windows you already have, but it is a heck of a lot easier to put on a separate hard drive.

You need to download the right hacked version, altered to work on PCs, and burn it to DVD.

first off if you did that it woulod violate apples user agreement

second its not easy to install mac os on a pc and you can't use the actual installation disks you need a patched version and third you would need the exact same hardware that apple puts in their macs they made sure it will only run on their hardware

i exploit Vista and Ubuntu(Linux). it rather is rather no longer as undesirable as every physique says. i elect to propose you get domicile windows Vista and then Ubuntu. Have a twin-boot pc. Ubuntu is an extremely consumer friendly distro. of linux. it rather is thoroughly loose. Macs paintings great yet have a wierd interface, stressful to apply, in case you utilize domicile windows. -----EDIT----- you are able to turn off consumer account administration, the stressful message that pops up asking you to verify. i do no longer keep in mind how, I did it on my Vista workstation, i'm on XP precise now. Sorry
