Question:
How can I stop Firefox from appending .jpeg to all saved .jpg images?

All of a sudden Firefox (v3.6.8) started adding “.jpeg” to all images that I try to save.

1. right-click an image, select Save Image
2. The save dialog appears, with the default save-as file name “xxxxx.jpg.jpeg”

I either have to manually edit and remove the ”.jpeg” from the save dialog box, or I have to open a DOS box in the the directory containing the image(s) and issue the command
RENAME *.jpeg *.

Easiest though, would be to make FF stop this crazy behaviour.

Thanks

Never happened to me, may be the site and not Firefox? Try disabling add-ons or plugins or reinstalling Firefox.

If you installed any other image viewer that's probably the problem, to change the default program in Firefox go to Tools > Options > Applications, then look for jpg and choose other application like Windows Photo Gallery.

Which photograph/image programme are you using? It is more likely that a setting in the photograph/image programme is set to "Save all as a jpeg".

I don't think it is a Firefox problem, as Firefox is simply a web browser.

recommend shop utilising IrfanView. First resize the image then bypass to record and shop As... type the call and then the line under you % type of record, locate JPEG format and click shop.
