How can I have Excel automatically detect the missing number and insert a new line and automatically fill in the missing number. Example: A1=1001, A2=1002, A3=1004, A4=1007....and so on. Missing 1003, need to insert the missing value. This list is very long, can't manually insert and input. Please help.

fill on A1=1001, A2 = 1002, then select a1 and a2, from the right corner of a2, pull ur cursor till the cell u want to fill with numbers. then choose Edit menu - Fill - Series

Can't you just highlight the first two cells and then grab the bottom of the second cell and drag it down to automatically number all the cells below it? You would have to continue dragging down to where it ends, but that is nothing.

I went and tried what I said and it works perfectly! Really simple. no formulas, no need to do what the first person said. Its just automatic!
