I seem to have a problem opening Windows update ! When I try to open the page, It looks like this---------

Thank you for your interest in obtaining updates from our site.

This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems only.
To find updates for Microsoft products that are designed for Macintosh operating systems, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/mac/.

Why is Microsoft not recognizing Windows ?? It seems to think I am running on a Mac !! I am running Windows XP Media Center, and have not Installed anything that I know of that would have caused this. Also having a problem opening the NFL sports page on MSN home page. It says "Internet Explorer - Ajax is not supported". I know this is some kind of extension to Java, but like I said, I have not installed any new programs. Think these are related??? I have ran two utility programs to clean Registry, search for errors, etc.. any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dwayne

First re-install your operating system, making sure to back up ALL files that you want to keep and if that doesn't work...then...

http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx?rdpath=1&gprid=1173

Talk to the people that work there, they will give you the best advice overall. They deal with this kind of stuff everyday.

As for the net try going to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and download that net, I prefer it actually! I hate the internet explorer bs...it seems slower to me.

Good luck!

I had the same problem

I had a legal copy and it wouldn't let me update it I finally reformatted hard drive and now it's working

I tried the repair install it didn't do anything.

I order the XP sp2 CD from Microsoft and it still didn't work that why I finally reformatted

Oh yeah I tried it with IE instead of Firefox and it still didn't work.

I tried validating it wouldn't let me I reformatted install the software I was using to begin with and now everything is fine.

I tried everything and since I save most all data and pictures on a different hard drive i only lost a few things.

If running XP, you still have a copy of Internet Explorer somewhere. Use that and ONLY that to connect to the update site. It makes some assumptions regarding what it will see when you try to check for updates. I would guess that Ajax won't do the job. IE will.

You most likely need to re-install your complete operating system, and you should probably save your data and files on either a flash drive, or CD's. There should be a code located on the side or the back of your computer with a Genuine Windows Code.

i are becoming this in the previous as properly. i think of it comes all the way down to a million of two subject concerns, uncertain which yet. a million. Being on a public (college) community that enables diverse shoppers with same IP (possibly some thing have been given lost in translation?). 2. making use of Mozilla Firfox (although my prevalent browser, i exploit IE7 for updates now).

Hi Dwayne... Go to microsoft download center and get the "genuine w indows validation tool". y ou might have gotten your Explorer files corrupted, too. Reinstall if that is the case.

The reason maybe why your window won't update is that your os might pirated or your software is not registered to microsoft.
