Question:
Norton AND How to get access to SYSTEM user processes?

My issue is that my notebook's pre-installed Norton Internet Security will not display the program. The window opens but all I see is my desktop background or anything that is in front of it (when another window is minimized a screen shot of whatever was up remains in the Norton window). So, I'm unable to adjust any of its settings.

Here's what I've done to troubleshoot:

I've already contacted Symantec and they gave me the same answer 3 times (make it so Norton would be the only program running at start up). DOES NOT WORK.

I tried to change the program's priority in the task manager's processes but it says I have no access. I am logged in as the administrator for I'm the only user of the notebook. The user shown in processes for the Norton Program is SYSTEM.

I even installed Norton Antivirus to see the same case happens, and it does. What should I do?

This most likely is *not* the answer you want, but here it is - each and every one of my customers who gets a pc or laptop with NIS on it, I uninstall it completely and use another program. NIS has caused more problems that Symantec owns up to, and their offers of solutions rarely solve the problem - they are usually workarounds. There are so many good internet security suites and stand alone products out there I just can't justify trying to make something work for hours on end, just because it came with the computer! (btw, I've been doing computer support since the days of DOS, so I'm the first to admit that for many years Norton was *the* way to go. But they lost their edge a couple years ago and now just aren't worth the hassle.)

Ouch... Um... I recognize you most of the time dont wish to listen to it however your rough force most of the time crashed. If your pc does now not have a repair factor or it obtained deleted then you definitely are not able to repair it. Since you are not able to entry any of your knowledge it maybe a rough force trouble, considering the fact that all your knowledge is retailer to your rough force. Sorry. I might take it to a pc tech and ask him to determine the rough force and be certain it's adequate. If thats now not the trouble... then... the motherboard is most of the time useless.
