I've seen one there which is on sale for £4.99 and it looks o.k...do you think this is too good to be true?
It's not by microsoft but is compatible and is listed as "new open office suite office and excel".I just don't want to wreck up my computer again...but life is hard without "Home and Office"...

There's no need to pay anything for Open Office - it's a free download from http://www.openoffice.org/ or there's Libre Office free from http://www.libreoffice.org/

The $4.99 is just for the media it's on.

Both are similar to MS Office and should do what you want them to do.

If the item(s) you are attempting to buy are on the original box and described as "New" and the feedback from that seller is high (above 98%) than chances are that it is a legitimate sell. Although it is best to keep in mind that even with those precautions you might still get a defective/used product, just as you might get a damaged or malfunctioning product from a retail store.

Always check his feedback on that particular item. Also check his all his personal feedback if he has negatives read them to find out the complaints from customers.

I never buy from anyone on ebay with more then 5 neg feedbacks in the last 12 months

http://www.openoffice.org

Free, very similar to MSOffice, output files are capable of being read by MSOffice.
