Word and Excel 2007 can handle the older format, but they may not be set up to automatically open when you double-click on one of those documents. Try this: 1. In Windows Explorer, find a .doc file. 2. Right-click on it and select Open With. 3. If Microsoft Word shows up in the Recommended list, select it. 4. If it does not, click the Browse button. Navigate to the directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 12. Find and select the file winword.exe. 5. In either case, check the checkbox Always use the selected program to open this kind of file. 6. Click OK. Repeat the above for .xls files and Excel.exe Hope that helps.

Format your cells to the type Time.

In MS office 2007, this can be done by going to Home tab-> Format menu item -> Format Cells -> Number tab. Then in category select Time. You can select any Type on the right hand side. Make sure you have all the cells selected for doing this (including the cell for results of addition or subtraction).

Then in cell for results you can write any formula, for example - "=A3-A1".

Hope this helps.
