Question:
My Windows Explorer is messed up?

What happens: It sometimes stops working. Cursor movement become choppy, keyboard input become laggy, other applications work fine. Usually I clear this by Ctrl+Alt+Del and logging off then logging on again, but now it becomes troublesome as it appears out of nowhere now randomly. Previously it appears only after waking up from sleep/hibernation. I thought it was because of going to sleep/hibernation while Photoshop is open, but it wasn't 100% correct.

I don't know what caused this and what triggers it. I can still restart Windows Explorer by clicking the "Restart the program" button if I'm lucky.

Anyone can provide enlightenment on this?

Alright, In my opinion, you are probably using up virtual memory on your pc and this always causes problems. I'm sure somewhere there is software to help free it up. If possible, consider buying more RAM. You won't need like 16GB but 4GB+ will show you a considerable difference. If you don't want to spend £20 or $40 on more RAM, just minimise how much RAM you use at one point. Close any unneeded applications. In my opinion, Internet Explorer is useless. Its slow even when it does work. I'd instead use Safari or Chrome for you default browser.

Good Luck!!!

First I would clear all system temp files, thumbnail caches etc using Ccleaner which is free - run it a couple of times

if you have a lot of stuff in explorer windows such as pics and videos and explorer is trying to display thumbnails, it can crash if one of the files or something in the cache have become corrupted.

Open folder options - under the view tab, select "always show icons, never thumbnails" click apply

see if that helps

Run a scan with malwarebytes antimalware too - free here

Three possibilities, here..

First, do you have enough pagefile set.. this is Virtual memory "borrowed" from your Hard drive.

Second.. there could be a corrupted file.. you can fix that by using "Tools" in explorer.. there is a "Repair" there.

Last, it is possible you have a virus.. there are some that will attack that way.
