how long do you have to wait to be prompted to review the license terms(and do i need to just keep on clicking on try again)
i keep on getting the error code 646. im trying to install 5 updates.
but then it goes on to say the following:
Did you accept the Microsoft Software License Terms?
Install the update again and review and accept the license terms.

Click to open Windows Update.

Review any error messages.

If an error message about license terms or cancelled updates is displayed, click Try again, and wait until you are prompted to review the license terms.

Accept the license terms, and wait to see if the update is installed successfully.

please can anyone help me, i'd be extremely grateful

This error is almost always caused by registry corruption. You probably didn't do anything wrong. The registry just tends to accumulate invalid entries over time from typical computer usage. You will need to repair the registry to receive your updates again. And you definitely want updates to make sure your system is protected. To fix the registry I recommend the following tool:

http://windows-error-repair.org/error-library/error-code-646.html

Simply download and install then run the scan and wait for the results. This will show you all the errors in your registry and allow you to repair & optimize your system. Once done you will be able to install your updates once again.

I hope it helps. Good luck!

Check the update numbers against those you have got in your system (add & remove programs = show updates)

also check your update history to see if you have the update already (if you do have it that is why there is a fail to install message so just hide that update and then reboot)

Have you rebooted between each fail message as some updates will not complete unless a restart is actioned on

It could be that it's an update for something not installed on your computer, that's why it won't install.
