getting virtualbox to recognise the usb drive is simple,

getting virtualbox to boot from the usb drive is next to imposable,

usb boot support needs to be included with virtualbox's virtual bios, there would be no real advantage so its not,

sorry

you may, depending on the usb drive, get virtualbox to recognise it as a floppy - this is a work round and not a fix

edit - i don't need to google ubuntu and virtualbox, as i use virtualbox on linux,

so my answer is not a rough guess - its actual knowledge

First you ought to place in the centred visitor addons in virtualbox. After that, you may create a shared folder (say you prefer to do /homestead/user1) and supply it a acceptance (like "homestead"). From the homestead windows digital gadget, you ought to map a networkpersistent. Open up "My laptop" and click on "equipment>Map networkpersistent" Then map anypersistent letter to "vboxsvrhome".
