I am 1 of those people that leaves thier pc on 24/7, after a few days of not using the pc, I will try to watch a video off msn but there is no audio. I still get audio from other normal pc functions, control panel says there is no audio device. When I reboot the pc, everything is back to normal with my ac97 audio device listed. but a few days later with no pc use, it happens again and I need to reboot again. This has just recently started happening in the last couple months. Is there a solution to stop this need to reboot every time I sit down at the pc?

Nope, what happens is your computer and its functions realize that the computer has just been sitting, and not in use. It may even hibernate shutting many functions down causing the audio to shut down as welll. The only solution to fixing this is that you can either a) turn off the computer (which is recommend by most people because leaving a computer on can cause viruses, spyware, and adware, it can cause overheating, and more problems that you will have to pay to have fixed) or you can b) reboot everytime. Its annoying I know - but thats the only way.

Heat and non usage is apparently effecting your connections or seating of audio card. Check everything out again and again.
