I don't have a Mac, but it should be the same as regular Microsoft Word.
Highlight the item you want to be subscripted and go to Format > Font > check 'Subscript' and press OK.
Don't know if this works on a Mac, but on a PC the shortcut Ctrl+= also works.

Make text superscript or subscript
Select the text you want to format as superscript or subscript (subscript: Describes text that is slightly lower than other text on a line. Subscripts are often used in scientific formulas.).
On the Format menu, click Font, and then click the Font tab.
Select the Superscript or Subscript check box.

Highlight the text you want and change the Font. There's a small box that says 'Subscript'. Put a check on it.
