OK, I fell a little stupid asking this, but I simply cannot get this to work in my document! I have a three column table in Word, and I want to have staggered rows--think of a newspaper, where different stories start at different places. Anyway, whenever i try to move the cell boundary for one column (by putting the cursor on the line until i see the double headed arrow), Word tries to move all three columns. I want to move only one independent of the others. I have tried highlighting the one column and moving the line, but no go. I have tried highlighting just the two cells above and below the line that I want to move, but it still isn't working! The top cell of those cells has been split into two cells. Together, those two cells are exactly as wide as the one cell beneath it. I am out of patience here....what do i do to change them independently?

cells can be a little confusing if you have 2 rows of cells and they both have 2 columns you can only have them them the same width you can create other columns in one of the cells but the centre line will still have to line up with the column in the other row, so the only way to get them to be totally different is to use multiple tables, hope this makes sense

cells in note are absolute references. The columns are alpha, i.e., A, B, C and the rows are numeric, i.e., a million,2,3... so in case you prefer to reference the get admission to on 2d row and nil.33 column, you may want to reference it as C3 - those entries are regularly utilized in calculations, yet would artwork high-quality on your applications. sturdy success,

right click...

table properties...

there a "row" option the the top....
