Question:
Uninstalling .NET Frameworks?

I want to free up space in my hard disk. I've used the built-in Disk Cleanup and also CCleaner, and I've uninstalled the programs I don't use that much anymore. But there's one thing bothering me,and it's the number of .NET Frameworks in my "Add/Remove Programs" list. I think it's only normal since some programs required me a specific version of .NET Framework to be installed (the setup asked them to be downloaded and installed), plus some of them came from the Automatic Updates. But is it really that necessary? Would it be bad for me to uninstall some of them?

Here's the .NET Frameworks installed in my computer.
-.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
-.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
-.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
-.NET Framework 4 Client Profile
-.NET Framework 4 Extended

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much ^_^

It depends upon what programs you've installed. Some versions of net framework will be needed. Basically if you run the net framework cleanup tool and reboot - you'll get an error message if you try to run a program when the required version of net framework is missing.

Basically it's best to leave all those versions installed. If you remove them windows update will reinstall them anyway.

If you're not sure what you need - remove all versions using the cleanup tool and let windows update handle the reinstallation as they need to be installed in the correct order.

If you're looking for space:

Delete all system restore points, add CCEnhancer to CCleaner, Run Bleachbit (import additional cleaners), Privazer, System Ninja and then use the advanced disk cleanup settings for cleanmgr using the sagerun and sageset commands:

framework 3.5 is mostly need to install. because 32 bit programs are not installed with out this.

these days two type of window are available 64 bit and 32 bit . your 64 bit widow have framework 4 automatically. but when you want to install a program which recover 32 bit OS system. then framework 3.5 is need to be install.

At the end i suggest to use do not remove this frameworks.

after removing these your installed programs may not work properly.

MANY programs rely on .Net frameworks to perform properly.

I don't know exactly what you have on your computer, but I guarantee lots of them require .Net. And plus, they don't actually take up much space on your hard disk.

Uninstalling .net frameworks will only make it worse.. better leave it as it is. it wont take much space..
