I have using a broadband connection from BSNL for monthly 2GB of free internet usage. But I don't know how to measure my internet usage. Is there any software to measure incoming and outgoing bytes? Is it available for free? Please tell me. Thanks in advance.

The best and tailor-made software for this is

ShaPlus Bandwidth Meter . It is completely free. It will record your broadband usage. It is directly accessible form your computer. If you want you can exclude certain periods from being metered(for those with night download free). It is made specifically for BSNL broadband users.

You can get it here - http://www.shaplus.com/bandwidth-meter/

Also check out- (http://www.shaplus.com/dataone/) for a software to automate the process of checking account usage from BSNL website.

Do try them.

Hope this helps:)

Normally your ISP has internet usage as part of their website. There is a free internet usage meter available at the link below.

You could use something like DU Meter, which shows you the speed of uploading and downloading, and you can set it to tell you when you go over a certain limit. Often you can get emails sent to the address the ISP gave you saying how much internet has been used.

I don't know of a program that can warn you (although they may very well exist), but you can use Windows Task Manager to keep track of how much data you have downloaded. Just press Ctrl+Shift+Esc and click on the "Networking" tab. If it doesn't show the "bytes" column at the bottom, just click "view", "select columns", then select "bytes". You may also want to show the "bytes received" column if you are only concerned about downloads and not total data transfered. You have to keep task manager open for the entire time that you want to keep track of this. You can minimize it, if you like, but if you exit out of it, then the stat's reset to 0. You can easily use the Bytes to figure out how many kilobytes, megabytes, and gigabytes that you use. 1024 Byes = 1kb, 1024 kb = 1 mb, 1024 mb = 1 GB. I also know that many antivirus software programs keep track of stuff like that. For example, I know for a fact that McAfee keeps track of how much you've downloaded since you've last restarted your computer, how much you've downloaded so far this month, and how much you donwloaded during the previous month. It also breaks your internet usage down into what programs are using how much of your internet.

You can check your BSNL broadband usage by going to site:

http://www.data.bsnl.in

or

http://www.data.bsnl.in/wps/portal

enter your Portal ID and Password for your bsnl connection.

(your password will be same as username if you havent changed it).

if u dont know those contact bsnl for getting ur username & password.

after logging in u can view the usage deails. ( My service-> My Usage Details)

Hope this helps.
