Question:
How to fix problems with Microsoft Outlook?
2007-11-19 18:41:21 UTC
I'm having a couple problems, so any help would be MUCH appreciated!

1
I am unable to Send/Receive. When I open Outlook (2000, not Express), this message appears: "Microsoft Windows Messaging Subsystem Spooler has encountered a problem and needs to close." Outlook opens, but the Send/Receive button is completely useless, no matter how many times I press it, and no emails have come through for several days.

2
I have an @rogers.com email address. I only use my email through Outlook, and it never asks for a password. However, I am getting a new computer and need to know (or even change) the password. My husband set up my email, and it's not written down. Anyone know how to recover it?

Thanks so much!

The first problem might be due to the built in Windows Messenger that came automatically installed with Windows 2000 and XP. If you don't use it, try to disable it.

To disable Windows Messenger:

Go to Windows Messenger

Tools

Options

Preferences

Untick the box beside "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts"

Click OK

Then go to Outlook

Tools

Options

General tab

Untick the box beside "Automatically log on to Windows Messenger"

Click Apply

Click OK

The second problem should be easily remedied by contacting Rogers. They can reset the password for you. Once the password is reset, you will need to look into the Tool, Accounts, Properties and look for the box regarding remembering the password. Rogers should be able to walk you through that stage.

determine that under Outlook money owed - which you have your SMTP server set properly. regularly curiously precisely like the line above it (POP Server) even regardless of the indisputable fact that it starts off with SMTP. verify that first. determine that's spelled properly. If that doesn't artwork, i might call the faculty IT branch. that's not your laptop or Outlook, that's the sending area of Outlook no longer being configured properly. attempt sending with Yahoo Mail - basically for the heck of it. If that doesn't artwork, may well be the faculty blocking off you.
